Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with volunteering for the community. His first family is that he's the youngest out of nine kids raised by Eufala with Lucious Selmon. Second football he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in the entire nation. Over the course of three seasons, Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, he received his third scholarship and was named the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week while he attended college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers were an all-pro three times before beginning an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, while working as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young males. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He captained his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, he became the as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
