Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on the 19th of January. 19. 1946, into a humble family of 12 children later on, realized early that she could escape the hardships of her life by using a vivid imagination. Her songs were written before she was able to read or write. Once she had her first guitar at age 8, she started to perform on radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. Gold Band Records is a small, independent label. Although she was studying, she already made a name of herself on the local scene. Her goal was to be able to perform at a much larger size. After graduating high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first album to be charted on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated tv show required a new singer at around this time. Parton accepted the role in the year 1966. She she joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974, as her own songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton's hit song, I'll Never Love You (for Wagoner), was able to reach the number. number 1 position after the duo split. The first time in 1974.
